Meanwhile this hasn't dealt with any actual cards the opponent might have played, or the fact that the opponent gets a fairly sizable body for free every time it starts a turn at 10 health or less. Assuming I've gone first and played that removal on turn 2, I'm still untapping on turn 3 having already taken five damage and still facing down two more damage per turn that requires more direct removal or a massive pump spell to AI-hack to death. Even if I did have those, I don't know that "just play a one-for-one removal" is enough of an answer to the fight. Of the cards you mentioned, I have zero Meek, zero Vandalize, zero Nature's Reign, and a single Pride's Fall.
Got there with my Human Warrior and am about to get there with my Vennen Cleric, and I don't really want to pay to get past it again. I paid to skip that fight with my Elf Mage and didn't really notice a "difficulty spike" behind it. The guard fight is a bit of a "gear check" to make sure you're ready for the difficulty spike that's coming. Other than the two dungeons, there's only a few locations and no quests behind that node. You should have a decent collection of Meek, Vandalize, Natures Reign, and Prides Fall by now - I would think. I guess I'm expected to sink real money in or just suck it up. I'm still trying to scrape together enough gold to pick up staple cards like dual shards so I can actually cast my meager collection of common cards. It kind of sucks that the second half of the campaign is gated behind either a gold fee or a ridiculously handicapped fight (opponent starts with 3 turrets in play).
